It could be a very expensive mistake. We have used Interlux epoxy primer with Interlux Britesides as a top coat. We have also done Awlgrip 545 primer with Awlgrip finish on the frames. Bear in mind that Awlgrip is a very hard finish and does not move with the wood so is more prone to cracking. When we did the Awlgrip, we totally stripped the wood and coated with West System Epoxy first to minimize wood movement. Since this year we have tried that we have not seen what the long term effect on the paint will be yet. We do not endorse mixing paint products – especially Awlgrip products.
