This Pearson 36 has been in dry storage for five years. A comparison of replacing the boat versus repowering and repairing led to the logical conclusion of reviving. The problems were obvious - delamination and core rot in the decks, cockpit and cabin-top. The reason the boat had originally been dry docked was a cracked engine block, so that needed to be dealt with. Plus the years of neglect had left the gelcoat too deteriorated to be repaired. The following is the work order for this job. |
- Install new engine - rebuild area to accept new engine and mounts
- Replace shaft, bearings and prop
- Replace panel
- Upgrade fuel system and hoses
- Install vacuflush and holding tank
- Install new fresh water hosing and pump
- Paint hull
- Fix deck and cabin top - re-core where necessary, glass entire surface
- Paint deck
- Paint dinghy

To the left you can see the rot under the top laminate. The first step is to remove the top laminate and core. |
